Squarefoot Selfstorage (Schweiz) GmbH, based in Regensdorf near Zurich, is one of the largest self storage providers in Switzerland and Austria. What began in 2007 as a Zurich removal company has grown organically over 19 years into a group with over 60 locations – step by step, location by location. Today, around 5'000 tenants trust us with their belongings.
A success story – unit by unit
It all started in 2007 in Regensdorf as Günstiger Umzug GmbH. Performing 700 to 1'000 moves a year, we quickly became Switzerland's largest combined removal and self storage company.
In doing so, we noticed that many customers do not just need transport, but temporary space. So we created it – clean, secure and easily accessible. Today, self storage is our core business, and the Squarefoot brand stands for straightforward, fair storage space in Switzerland, Austria and Germany.

Location search, fit-out, operations and customer service are all handled by us. Our in-house construction team transforms archives, warehouses and parking levels into bright, clean storage units – precise to the millimetre and with zero investment required from landlords.
Organically grown
Location by location, rented and owned, independent of economic cycles. Around 99 % of our customers are private individuals; in addition, over 400 SMEs, law firms, municipalities and cantons store with us.
Reliable partner
Our landlords include insurance companies, pension funds and institutional property owners. In all these years, we have never made a single late rent payment.
Systematic security
Access only via personal PIN, verified on the security server. Motion-detector night-vision cameras, climate and humidity sensors, and monitoring by Securitas protect every location.
Digital and efficient
Bookings, contracts, access and the app all run on our proprietary systems. With around 40 websites dedicated to storage, we reach customers all across Europe.
A team that stays
Around 20 employees and 40 freelancers look after our customers. Many have been with us for 2008 or 2009 years – Managing Director Patrick Leypold since the company was founded.

Carbon-negative and climate-positive
To sustainably combat climate change, we must all strive to reduce our carbon footprint.
The SQFT Group operates several photovoltaic systems on its buildings. They produce significantly more clean electricity than we consume – even including our vehicle emissions. We feed the surplus into the grid. Because we save more CO₂ than we generate, we are proud to be one of the very first self storage companies to be carbon-negative.
