In the long run, neither the boot of your car nor the garage is the best place to keep your golf equipment. But before you store your golf clubs, please keep a few things in mind: 

First, you should clean your clubs. You can do this with a professional cleaning kit, or save money and simply follow our tips. 

1. Add a little washing-up liquid to a bucket of lukewarm water

2. Soak the club heads for a while 

3. Scrub the heads with a toothbrush or a soft plastic bristle brush. Don't skip a single groove!

4. Dry them with a towel. Then work your way up the shaft to remove dirt and deposits.

5. Dip wooden parts into water (long soaking is not good) and wipe them with a damp cloth before drying them.

Store in a cool, dry place

Ideally, you should store your golf clubs in a cool, dry place. A stable temperature and relatively low humidity have a positive long-term effect on your equipment. 

Note: Extreme cold can cause your grips to dry out and become brittle.

Storing small sports equipment is no big deal. But a bicycle? If you need a breather from pedalling in this weather, we completely understand. You need a clean, dry storage unit for your bike. Moving your bike out of the garage every morning just to get to your car doesn't make much sense either: 

Open the car door, get in, drive the car out, get out, push the bike back in, get into the car, drive off – every single day? No thanks. 

How to prepare your bike for long-term storage:

• Let it dry thoroughly: turn the bike upside down to get rid of any water that could cause rust. 
• Check the condition of the bike and replace anything that needs replacing. 
• Clean the chain.
• Lubricate spokes, chains and anything else that needs a little lubricant. 
• Spray the brakes with WD-40
• Wipe down the saddle and handlebars

Depending on how long you plan to store your bike: remove the tyres. This prevents flat spots.

Ice fishing not your thing? Then you probably need to store your fishing gear properly over the winter. That's a bit sad – but not as sad as reaching for your fishing rod in spring only to find it broken or bent. 

How to prepare your fishing gear for your storage unit in Zurich:

Just packing the fishing rod into your storage unit without preparation isn't a good idea. Do it right with these steps: 

• Dismantle, clean and grease the reel. This prevents corrosion damage 
• Replace worn reel seats and guides 
• Take the rod apart and store it in appropriate sleeves.
• Replace damaged backing lines and hooks.
• Clean knives, dry thoroughly and oil them.
• Store your fishing rods vertically
