History of Squarefoot

Where does Squarefoot come from, how old is he, what does he like to do in his spare time...? Questions upon questions that our customers ask every day. On this page you will find the answers to some of these questions, but the whole truth is only told by those Squarefoot Selfstorage customers who rent for a particularly long time.

  • As far as science currently knows, Squarefoot is a mammal, similar to Bigfoot, the Yeti or the North American Sasquatch. He differs from these mainly in his size...

    -4000
  • ...little is known about his true age. From an early age, like Euclid, the founder of geometry, Squarefoot was primarily interested in geometric shapes such as cubes and cuboids and was fascinated by how to store things optimally.

  • It seems certain that Squarefoot has always had a close relationship with professions that have special storage needs (sports, art). This can be proven, among other things, by the fact that among the sketches by Leonardo da Vinci in the Florentine Uffizi, there is one that seems to prove that he posed for his first drafts of the Mona Lisa.

    1503
  • Scientific opinions differ as to how old Squarefoot actually is. In the Tell's Chapel on Lake Lucerne there is the famous ceiling fresco of the Rütli Oath; some claim that he was already present at this scene.

    1590
  • In Delacroix's world-famous picture from 1830, in which an unknown woman waves the flag as a symbol of freedom, it also appears as if he can be seen in the background.

    1830
  • Friends of equipment-intensive sports such as kitesurfing, surfing, golfing or mountaineering are also familiar with this storage space issue. Here, too, his proximity seems to be very well documented early on, and he also seems to have been a welcome helper on mountain expeditions, as this picture from 1938 proves.

    1938
  • The transport and storage of art was already a logistical challenge back then. In the 1960s, too, there are indications of his proximity to art. Among the countless works by Andy Warhol, this Pop Art portrait can be found.

    1962
  • Music bands also have the constant storage problem: where to put the equipment between gigs when no dedicated, permanent rehearsal room is available? However, whether Squarefoot was actually on stage with the Rolling Stones in 1969 is still disputed today.
